At first glance, her smile is what captures you, warm, confident, and full of life. Sitting in her school uniform, *Mariana* looks like any other young girl excited about learning, friendships, and the future. But behind that smile is a powerful story of resilience. 

Now at 8 years old, living with HIV has not defined her; it has shaped her strength. 

Diagnosed at a young age because she transmitted HIV through her late mother, Mariana’s journey began with uncertainty. Like many children, she did not fully understand what it meant, but with the support of her guardians and dedicated health workers at Alive Medical Services, she began treatment early. Over time, taking her medication has become part of her daily routine just like going to school, doing homework, and playing with friends. Mariana continues to thrive. 

She attends school regularly, performs well in class, and actively participates in activities with her peers. Mariana’s best part at the facility is that she gets to play with other children who are always around for their appointments with their mothers. 

Her aunt, who currently supports her as her guardian, describes her as focused and eager to learn and stay focused. Her health has remained stable, thanks to consistent adherence to treatment and regular clinic visits. She is growing well, full of energy, and living proof that HIV is not a barrier to a healthy and fulfilling life. Mariana wants to be a nurse when she grows up. 

Beyond her physical health, her confidence continues to grow. She laughs easily, makes friends, and carries herself with quiet determination. With the right support system around her family, healthcare providers, and a nurturing school environment, she has been able to live freely, without stigma holding her back. Her story is not just about survival; it is about possibility. 

It shows that with access to treatment, care, and encouragement, children living with HIV can thrive, dream, and achieve just like any other child. She represents a future where HIV does not limit potential but instead highlights the power of resilience, care, and hope.
