Alive Medical Services (AMS) has been a leading organization in Uganda's response to HIV/AIDS and SRHR for over 15 years. Located in Namuwongo, a suburb of Kampala, it operates round-the-clock, seven days a week, saving lives and offering all treatments to clients without charge and in a non-discriminatory manner. Every year, AMS supports approximately 218,000 vulnerable and marginalized clients in Kampala, Mukono, Wakiso, and beyond with comprehensive and differentiated high quality HIV/AIDS/SRHR prevention, care, treatment, and support that is delivered with compassion and dignity and upholds the highest standards.
AMS provides high-quality HIV/AIDS/SRHR care along with socioeconomic empowerment in a high-volume ART clinic with a replicable business strategy. More than 230,000 people have been tested for HIV and the organization has assisted more than 18,000 persons while serving over 1,300,000 people in Uganda. 10% of those who have HIV and are receiving care are children and young people.
For its remarkable performance, AMS has won more than 34 national and international awards, including one given by the Ministry of Health in 2021 for being the best private health facility in the Heroes in Health competition. In line with and steadfastly working to achieve the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals, which state that 95% of all HIV-infected people will know their status, 95% of all HIV-infected people will have access to ARVs, and 95% of all HIV-infected people will achieve viral suppression by 2022, AMS' comprehensive approach to eliminating HIV in Uganda integrates social and economic needs of clients with HIV care.
