My name is Tushemerirwe Gorretti, I am 45years old and a mother of five. I came to Alive Medical Services (AMS) in 2006 for HIV-testing when I noticed a very strange and persistent rush all over my body.
My health condition before was severe. I was very weak and I barely had an appetite for food that whatever I could eat, I ended up vomiting it. When I was tested and the results turned out positive, I accepted them because all I wanted at that point was to get better.
AMS has impacted my life greatly; apart from the wonderful medical care, AMS has provided me with medicine, food, and water purification supplies like clean water containers and PUR sachets, which has enabled my family consume clean and safe water. We no longer have bouts of water hygiene related diseases like diarrhea and so many others. It has also enabled us to save a lot of money since we do not have to spend to consume clean water and medical expenditure on continuous illnesses like in the past.
Another special thing that AMS has done for me is to improve my livelihood by giving me access to an income generating group called the Kisakye Project. This is a project made up of women and young girls who are clients of AMS that make reusable pads for women which are sold. I earn a living from this project, which has enabled me to pay school fees for my children, pay house rent and, I can afford a balanced diet that has greatly contributed to my good adherence to treatment.
I am grateful to the entire AMS family plus the donors that keep giving generously to this clinic so that people like me can live healthy and happy lives. Thank you very much and may God continue blessing you.
